The recession was a two-year nightmare for America, and the restaurant and hospitality industries suffered more than most sectors. BOHAN chose to proactively combat misery with a touch of community humor for Fazoli’s via its “Italian Revolution” – a tongue-in-cheek viral protest movement housed at a newly created “freespaghetti.com” mini-site. A rotating series of weekly coupons offered consumers free spaghetti giveaways even as they captured customer data for this 230-store chain. A light-hearted public relations campaign brought the message to target audiences of moms and bargain hunters with featured play on food-related blogs, local television news and local papers.
