NASHVILLE, Tenn. (October 2011) -- Krista Bowman, a senior advertising major at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has received a one-year $2,500 scholarship from BOHAN, a full-service advertising and marketing agency in Nashville.
Bowman, from Chattanooga, is a member of the American Advertising Federation. She plans to graduate in August 2012.
"UT Knoxville’s advertising program is among the best in the nation, and our scholarships are one way the agency supports the future of the industry,” said David Bohan, the agency’s founder and CEO.
Bowman, who is an intern at the Dogwood Arts Festival and a student manager for Aramark Food and Supply, is a first-generation college student.
“This scholarship puts me that much closer to my degree and helps me show my family and friends that getting a college education is possible no matter what the circumstance,” Bowman said.
Mike Wirth, dean of the UT College of Communication and Information, said the annual BOHAN scholarship benefits the whole advertising program.
“Scholarships make a substantial difference in the lives and professional development of the recipients while also having a profound influence on the quality of the entire advertising program. Industry-funded scholarships are very important,” Wirth said.
Bohan, who earned a business degree from UT, serves on the Board of Visitors for the College of Communication and Information and the UT Development Council.
BOHAN, established in 1990 and based in Nashville, Tenn., is a full-service advertising and marketing agency. It has major clients in tourism, healthcare and consumer goods. Agency information is online at www.BohanIdeas.com.
