BOHAN client earns recognition for travel season that once didn’t exist
Pigeon Forge, Tenn., the client on which BOHAN Advertising was founded, has earned national recognition from TIME magazine as one of the “9 Most Christmassy Towns in America.”
“This is especially notable since there was no winter tourism in Pigeon Forge when the agency started working with the city,” said agency CEO David Bohan.
TIME.com cited Pigeon Forge along with destinations such as New York City (Rockefeller Center, the Rockettes), Washington, D.C. (the national Christmas tree) and Santa Claus, Ind. (known as “America’s Christmas Hometown”).
It put special focus on the award-winning Inn at Christmas Place and the Incredible Christmas Place retail complex.

“One of the city’s greatest achievements is Pigeon Forge Winterfest, a promotion we helped inspire, that encouraged businesses to stay open after the fall foliage season ended and drew visitors to town in months when there used to be no reason to visit,” Bohan said.
Pigeon Forge Winterfest began in 1990 and has made winter the city’s second busiest season.
“Winterfest created an opportunity for businesses such as the Inn at Christmas Place,” said Leon Downey, executive director of the Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism.
Earlier this year, positive consumer reviews led to a Travelers’ Choice Award for the Inn at Christmas Place from TripAdvisor when the hotel was named one of the Top 25 Hotels in the U.S. It polled sixth on that list.
Soon after that accolade, Pigeon Forge itself was named to the TripAdvisor list of the Top 10 Best Family Destinations, and the Inn at Christmas Place was named the top-reviewed family-friendly hotel in the city.
