A food drive and cash contributions from BOHAN are helping feed more than 4,000 people during the holiday season after those gifts were funneled through the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.
“This is the third year the agency has supported Second Harvest. The food need in the community is real, and we are amazed and delighted at the efficiency of Second Harvest,” said agency CEO David Bohan.
Starting in November, agency employees filled containers with peanut butter, canned tuna, canned chicken and other items that Second Harvest uses to stock emergency food boxes. That food was combined with cash contributions to boost the impact.
Bohan and agency vice president Tom Adkinson delivered the food to Second Harvest’s Alvin Cantrell at the food bank’s distribution center.
Another agency project collected winter coats for the needy, and a new effort has begun to collect children’s books for a United Way literacy program.
“We are among the fortunate ones in society, and the agency is a excellent vehicle to help employees plug into the community,” Bohan said.
