BOHAN Earns Four Emmy Award Nominations for Shoney’s, Cenwood Kitchens

Eighth straight year for Nashville agency’s work to be chosen

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (December 2011) – Television spots depicting a restaurant CEO destroying one of his own establishments and others promoting high-end kitchen appliances helped BOHAN Advertising earn four Emmy Award nominations for 2012.

The commercials were for the Shoney’s restaurant chain and Cenwood Kitchens, an appliance retailer with locations in Nashville and Memphis.

They are being judged in the 26th annual Midsouth Emmy Award competition. Winners will be named March 17 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville.

BOHAN has won at least one Emmy Award in six of the last seven years. This is the eighth year in a row the agency’s work has been nominated.

The agency has two nominations in the commercial spot category and two in the commercial campaign category.

The two in the commercial spot category are for Shoney’s, and both support Shoney’s CEO David Davoudpour’s work to revitalize the chain. One depicts Davoudpour driving a piece of heavy equipment into a Shoney’s to represent changes being made, and the other depicts the kidnapping of a new executive chef, shot in the style of a spy thriller.

One of the commercial campaign nominations was for the total Shoney’s “Starting Fresh” campaign, and the other was for a series of spots about Cenwood’s appliances and services.

Broadcast producer Deb Rhodes, who joined BOHAN in 2005, oversaw all of the nominated projects.

The Nashville/Midsouth Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences gives the awards. Emmys for commercial work in the Midsouth region date only to 2004, and BOHAN is the only Nashville advertising agency to have won one.

Geneva Brignolo, executive director of the Nashville/Midsouth Chapter, said judges examine content, creativity and execution to determine winners of “television’s highest honor.”

“Commercials are subject to the same scrutiny that is applied to documentaries,” she said.

The Nashville/Midsouth region covers Tennessee, North Carolina (except the Asheville market) and the Huntsville, Ala., market.
